Hi, I'm Amanda!
I have been pouring candles since 2019. Starting off as a hobby, I purchased a candle making kit to refill old candle jars that I had burned in my hair salon. I grew a love for pouring candles as it was a step away from the salon, downtime, and a way I could get creative without touching someone’s hair or even speaking to anyone. I found it and still find it relaxing and therapeutic. From there, my business Gem and Stone was born.
Our name
The name Gem and stone did not exactly come from actual gem and stones, but the gem and stone of our family. In 2012 our family lost our grandmother Gemma. She was a beautiful soul, and there’s not a day where our family doesn’t think about her, she was admired by all. Since her passing, gemstones have become a symbol of her. This is where the name Gem and Stone was born.
The stone representing my grandfather, Paul - I actually poured my first ever candles on his birthday in 2019. I wanted my passion for candles to be represented by a name that was special and important to me. Every time I pour a candle I still think of her.
Our candles are made from 100% natural soy wax, non-toxic fragrance oils, and uncoated, natural wood wicks. We use only the highest quality ingredients to ensure a clean, safe burn.
Our candles have varying burn times depending on the size. For example, our Vogue Grande candles offer approximately 80+ hours of burn time.
Yes! We prioritise sustainability by using soy wax, a renewable resource, and eco-conscious materials. Our candles are also free from harmful toxins, ensuring a safe and environmentally friendly experience.
For optimal performance, we recommend burning your candle for 4-6 hours at a time and ensuring the wick stays centred. Always trim the wick before each use and keep your candle away from drafts to prevent uneven burning.
To ensure a long-lasting burn, make sure to trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each use and allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface during each burn. This helps avoid tunnelling and extends the life of your candle.
